However, through the efforts of my parents and an encounter with a wonderful doctor, my disease-prone constitution was improved and I realized how grateful I am to be in “good health”.

Today, the emphasis is on longevity, meaning that we want to live a disease-free life. Companies around the world are investing in focusing on curing diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s.

As a solution to further escape anxiety, they have created regenerative medicine, or the medical art of regenerating, repairing, and replacing damaged or diseased cells, organs, and tissues, including the generation and use of therapeutic stem cells, tissue engineering, and the manufacture of artificial organs.

If good medical science is used to save lives, it is ethical. But if it is used to leave offspring with better genes, or to make people live longer, or even to make them immortal, then this generation of humans is not yet ready to accept it.

However, humans are greedy creatures. I myself, who should have been satisfied with my health, now desire to be “rejuvenated”.

Why are we afraid of aging?

It is because the feeling of “anxiety” resides in our hearts.
